The Graduate Management Admission Test is a standerdized test used by Business schools to determine the proficiency of students in the English and Mathematics and hence their ability to take on business studies.It is usually a requirement for application to top -ranked business -related post-graduate programmes and is taken either as a computer based test or a paper -based one.The test comprises analytical writing assessment ,the quantitative section and the verbal section. Exclusive of the analytical writing assessment section ,the other two sections are scored within a range of 200-800 points with the writing assessment section being scored from 0-6 per topic.

The sat is a standardized test used in the admissions process for undergraduate study of most colleges and universities in the United States of America and Canada as well as other countries.It is assesses Writing and Language Skillsas well as proficiency in Mathematics.There is an overall score of 1600, with each section contributing 800 marks.
The ACT is a standerdized test aimed at assessing English ,Mathematics,Reading and science reading . An optional writing test has been added since the year 2005.It is used in the admissions process of most colleges even though different institutions place different levels of emphasis on its usage. The main four tests are scored on as scale of 1_36. A composite score of the whole number average is provided as the final score.
The test of English as a foreign language is used in the evaluation of a students ability to use English in an academic setting.For non-native speakers ,it may be used as an admissions requirement in any English speaking colleges and universities.The test is divided into four sections :Reading ,Listening ,Speaking and writing.It is offered either as an Internet- based test or a paper -based one.It is scored within a range of 0-120 marks with each section worth 30 marks or points.
The international English language Testing system is an international standardized test which aims at testing English language proficiency.There are two versions ,the academic version and the general training version. The academic version is for individuals who wish to enrol in institutions of higher learning while the training version is intended for people looking to undertake non-academic training ,gain work experience or for immigration purposes.

The Government Secretarial School was established in 1952 at Cantonments, Accra, by the then British Colonial government of the Gold Coast under the governorship of Lord Listowel. The school was established as part of the Africanisation policy to train high calibre secretarial staff for the civil service and other public sector organizations. The first Principal was Miss Alice Morgan, an European professional secretary. The school started with three female students.
The training was for duration of three months and comprised of Shorthand, Typing and English Language. In 1957 the enrolment increased to 40 students made up 10 young men and 30 women. Since its establishment, the school has trained students from other African countries including Uganda, Namibia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Kenya, Swaziland, Tanzania, Gambia, Cameroon and South Africa.
Apart from training students from other African countries, the school has also helped in the establishment of secretarial schools in other African countries including Zanzibar now part of Tanzania.
Over the years, the school has expanded and currently has five satellite campuses in Koforidua, Sekondi, Kumasi, Ho and Tamale.
The school is the oldest and largest service provider when it comes to secretarial training in Ghana with expert, professional and technical competence.
